Trofeo Estate Vineyard -

In the thriving world of Australian wine production, one boutique label committed at its inception to take the bold steps necessary to deliver a higher quality product produced without compromise and without using chemical fertilisers, pesticides or herbicides and where the vinification process would take place in Terracotta Amphorae producing wines offering several unique features.

Where chemicals could not leach out of wooden barrels dulling the flavours and aromas of the wines. Terracotta Amphorae are almost infinitely reusable, reducing the winery’s greenhouse gas emissions and its carbon footprint. Sustainability in all stages from growth, through production to the table or the glass.

Wines which would be better for the environment and for the consumer

Where products harmful to the human body cannot leach from oak barrels in the presence of alcohol and contribute to adverse reactions to wine, these Furfurals are not present in Terracotta wines.

Trofeo is the future of premium wine for people who care about what they put in their bodies.

Clean, natural wine. Wine without additives where you taste the fruit as nature intended.

Producing great wines in this way showcases the terroir, the uniqueness of the micro climate and the sheer quality of the fruit produced by healthy vines grown in perfect harmony with nature and brought together with meticulous care and passion by expert wine makers dedicated to the process.

Wine production in terracotta amphorae is not new. The history of this method was well established in the time of the Ancient Egyptians. The great civilisations of Greece and the Rome venerated the wines made in Terracotta.  The Ancient Greeks believed that as a product of the earth terracotta was so pure and so connected to civilisation that Prometheus used it to create humankind.

In Georgia traces of wine in ceramic fragments have been found in Neolithic archaeological sites dating back 8000 years.

Site Influences The “terroir” on the bayside slope of Red Hill as it roles gently down to the beaches of Port Phillip Bay at Dromana is a unique ecosystem. This terroir is renowned for the complexity of the wines produced from its grapes. How a vine interacts with the soil and the climate is all important in growth and production and is immediately evident in the finished product. This is why wines are defined in region name. The soil influences vine development and grape ripening through soil temperature, water supply and mineral supply. The relationship of these together with seasonal changes and climate play a significant role with the vine.
Features A vineyard with blue views, what could be better. The Trofeo Estate Vineyard is a unique proposition. Wine production from the vine to the glass with the process taking place in terracotta amphora so nothing interferes with or imparts foreign flavours or impurities to the finished product.
